Team rhythm

Team rhythm is Harmonic’s lightweight check-in: a short “here’s where I’m at” post that replaces the status theatre of long standups.

Check-ins

A check-in is a few sentences: what you’re working on, how it’s going, anything worth knowing. Teammates can react — the ambient awareness a co-located team gets for free, rebuilt for distributed ones.

Blockers

If something’s in your way, flag it as a blocker in your check-in. Your manager is notified directly — the blocker doesn’t wait for the next meeting to be discovered. When it clears, clear it.

This is deliberately the opposite of surveillance: you say what’s blocking you, in your words, when you choose to. There’s no automatic activity tracking anywhere in Harmonic.

Why bother when you have Slack?

Slack is a firehose; a check-in is a snapshot. The rhythm gives each person one intentional moment a week to say how things actually are — and gives managers a humane way to spot who needs help without hovering.
